Harry & Hazel welcome you to our year round holiday accommodation set in a rural and tranquil location. La Mélinière is surrounded by beautiful, unspoilt countryside in the Loire Valley, just north of the River Loire. There are local Chateaux, magnificent churches and many grand old buildings for those who with an eye for classical architecture to visit and enjoy.
Most towns are lively and colorful with outdoor markets at least once every week, where you can buy fresh local produce, immerse yourselves in the real sights and sounds of rural France and have a coffee at the pavement cafes. If you fancy a day on the beach, La Baule can easily be reached in just over and hour, or there is a man-made beach at a local reservoir about 30 minutes away with supervised bathing in high season. It’s very easy to forget that England is just a few hours away.
Close by are Chateaubriant, Nantes, Angers, Rennes, Redon, Laval and Vitre. Each offering their own brand of shopping, history and attractions to satisfy all tastes and interests. If you are a motor sport fan, Le Mans is and hour away, so, ‘La Mélinière’ can be your quiet hideaway, away from all the noise and activity.
Five minutes away is the small town of Candé, hosting bars, restaurants and a variety of shops, not forgetting our local Super-U, supermarket.
La Mélinière’s external areas comprise of :-
- A 12m x 6m heated in ground swimming pool with loungers.
- A large field for the children to play and explore.
- Fishing lake approximately 100m x 50m stocked with carp, roach, pike, perch, and golden orfe. Fishing is free for the Gite residents.
- A boules court.
- A laundry room with free washing machine, iron and ironing board.
- A large fixed Barbeque
